Aamra,
Aamra in Sanskrit translates to mangoes.
This second home tucked within the mango orchard is a perfect place to rest and explore.
A grand welcome into the farm led by the mango trees. Between these trees sharing the the same floor sat the house. Blending well with the earthy colours and clean lines almost hiding away behind the mango foliage.
The entry into the living and an open kitchen with double height space gives a very different sense of space.
Long horizontal windows that light up the whole space by filtering soft light into the living room. The highlight is the inclined wall that opens into the garden space.
The living room houses an open kitchen with dining on one side and a cosy reading/ playing/ chatting or whatever you feel like the space has room for it. Whole lot of books and board games within the inbuilt niche song the inclined wall.
A quite little nook across the living room with cool breeze and green all around. It's important to create right spaces to encourage kids to stay away from the digital screens.
Corridor house a straight wall and an inclined wall.
The design challenges that follows an inclined wall is far beyond you can think while drawing in on paper. It's interesting how the space looks and feels with that slight shift in line.
Minimalistic bedroom with flowing niche and edges that become a bed and extends towards a platform by the large window. Filled with natural light and fresh breeze.
When a space let's you slow down by every minute which means the space is giving you your space. When design is minimal and well thought the language of each space gets defined.
A combination of exposed concrete and mud plaster creates such a unique texture. Complimenting eachother and creating an earthy vibe.
Having a jagali around mango tree or a Tulsi katte at the entrance. They both bring back childhood memories. Bringing back those forgotten elements is something to relish. Not just that at aamra they grow their own produce. It's so refreshing to see freshly harvested greens and veggies sitting at the katte.
